The ratings were spotted on PlayStation's regional websites and confirmed by iGrandTheftAuto journalists who checked official registries. The outcome points to the most mature entry in the series to date.

Every major market has handed down its highest adult-oriented restriction. In Europe and the UK, the game now carries a finalized PEGI 18 rating, replacing the "Provisional" status that had temporarily appeared in Sony's digital storefront. Germany's USK has placed it under USK 18, Australia has issued an X 18+ classification, and Mexico has sorted it into Category D.

Few were taken aback by these uncompromising verdicts. Official material and online speculation have already painted a picture of heavy adult content — strip clubs rendered in meticulous detail, explicit romantic sequences, substance use, and graphic violence among them. Yet that same level of provocation could revive a familiar headache for the franchise: authorities and conservative watchdogs in numerous countries may once again single out GTA as a prime example of negative influence on minors. Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated to arrive on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version is expected to follow at a later date.
