Sega has shown another 15 minutes of gameplay from the action game Stranger Than Heaven
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released a rather lengthy (several-min) gameplay video for Stranger Than Heaven. The footage moves between combat demos, city traversal, and the way the setting shifts through time.
The combat’s headline feature is independent control of the protagonist’s left and right limbs, operated with the triggers (L/R). It sounds clever — and it might feel fresh in short bursts or oddly fiddly in long encounters.
The story covers five decades, 1915–1965, following Makoto Daito. He’s biracial (American father, Japanese mother), orphaned early, and at some point stows away on a ship bound for Japan.
Gameplay chapters take place across five locations inspired by Japanese cities such as Kokura, Kure, Minami, Atami, and Shinjuku. Each chapter lines up with a particular era and brings its own criminal syndicates and entertainment districts into play.
Music is built into the mechanics: the protagonist’s talent shows up as a gameplay loop where you collect ambient samples (e.g., the clatter of train wheels, the rustle of a broom, combat hit sounds). Those samples can later be arranged in a special music editor to make original tracks.
Stranger Than Heaven is slated for release on January 15, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (on Steam). It will also join the Game Pass library on day one.
