Solo Developer of Esoteric Ebb Shows Game Evolution with Publisher Support
Swedish solo developer Kristoffer Bodegård has published a comparison of two versions of the inventory interface for his RPG Esoteric Ebb — screenshots from 2023, when the project was being created solo, and the current version developed with the support of publisher Raw Fury. The visual difference between the versions is noticeable at first glance.
The early version featured concise, almost schematic graphics: a knight in a grey metal helmet is depicted against a monotonous background, while the minimalist interface paradoxically created a feeling of clutter.
The updated screenshot shows a significantly richer scene: a goblin companion has appeared in the frame, the environment has become detailed, and a wooden bucket now adorns the character's head.
Bodegård emphasized that he has retained full control over the game — despite the publisher's assistance. Raw Fury provided professional art resources, but the developer still independently handles the project's interface and programming aspects.
