Delidded Ryzen 7 9850X3D Processors Go on Sale at One and a Half Times the Standard Price

German company Thermal Grizzly, known for its extreme computer cooling solutions, has introduced a unique offering for the most demanding gamers and overclockers. This involves a delidded version of the best gaming processor on the market, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D. This means the company removes the processor's integrated heat spreader (IHS), exposing the die to allow for direct contact cooling with the cooling system. Although these processors are not particularly hot themselves, they support overclocking without significant limitations, making such a solution quite viable.

Of course, this approach also has its downsides. The main one is the very high risk of damaging the processor during the direct installation of the cooling system. Moreover, this damage is most likely fatal for the "chip" — the silicon of bare dies is quite delicate. Another, less significant drawback, can be considered the price of such a delidded "chip" — Thermal Grizzly is asking $876 for it.
