Russians Are Being Fed a Camrip-Pirated Version of "Avatar: The Flame and Ashes" in Cinemas
The premiere of the third "Avatar" film in Russia has been marred by scandal. Moviegoers are complaining that many cinemas are showing a low-quality pirated copy—a "camrip"—for the full ticket price. This recording was filmed off a projector and artificially enhanced by neural networks. As a result, the image is washed out, the camera shakes, and the sound is distorted, completely ruining the film's visual experience. For some viewers, watching such a version even causes physical discomfort.
The problem stems from cinemas lacking official materials from the distributor. Many advise waiting for the digital release to see the film without technical defects.
