RPCS3 Emulator Received Enhanced Graphics and Support for Running Games from ISO Images

A new status update from the people working on RPCS3 sketches recent fixes that target how games look when emulated. Several visual bugs that produced odd artifacts have been chased down; some were petty, others rather stubborn.

Rendering got attention across different areas: lighting is now computed more faithfully, reflections behave better in many scenes, and skyboxes no longer break the backdrop in places where they used to. Results vary — sometimes it's a subtle polish, sometimes a dramatic correction — e.g., the changes make a clear, visible difference in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and SOCOM 4, where lighting bugs were largely removed.

On top of the graphics work, the team added ISO support: you can run game images directly from ISO files (i.e., without manual extraction). It's a practical convenience that should make testing and playing a bit less fiddly.
