Riot Games Officially Announces League of Legends Classic: Details of the Legendary Return
Riot Games has confirmed work on League of Legends Classic. It isn't intended as a single frozen snapshot; the plan, according to devs, is to let players hop between eras — old builds, legacy maps, even champion skill sets that once behaved very differently (think radical abilities that were later reworked or removed).
Executive producer Paul Bellezza teases a dynamic selection of content rather than one “authentic” version; fans have already been speculating wildly after leaks from test servers revealed classic skins and hero portraits. Some players are pumped, some are nervous — reactions are scattered across forums and social channels.
The full presentation is set for July 11, 2026, at the MSI final in Taejon, South Korea. Riot says they'll show gameplay and detail how this nostalgic experiment will be put together, though exactly how they'll manage patches, matchmaking, etc., remains to be seen.
