Randy Pitchford Decides Not to Release Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 for Now

Take-Two Interactive has announced the suspension of Borderlands 4 development for the Nintendo Switch 2. This information came to light during the presentation of the financial results for the third quarter of 2026.

The game was initially planned for release on the console on October 3, 2025 — shortly after its launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. However, the date was postponed, and now the project is officially on hold.

According to Take-Two representative Alan Lewis, this was a difficult but necessary decision. It will allow Gearbox Software to focus its efforts on supporting the already released versions, creating post-release content, and overall project optimization. The publisher also emphasizes that its partnership with Nintendo remains unchanged.
