Publisher of Nioh and Dynasty Warriors Complains About Revenue Drop Due to Mobile Games
Koei Tecmo has shared its financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. The data is current as of December 31, 2025, and covers sales in the "entertainment" segment, which includes series like Ninja Gaiden and Nioh.
In the console and PC game sales sector, Koei Tecmo managed to show growth. However, a decline was recorded in mobile and multiplayer projects.
The company plans to invest in increasing the quantity and quality of its console and computer games. As for mobile games, we can expect new titles with the prospect of profitability over many years. At the same time, the expansion of already existing "titles" will suffer.
Koei Tecmo's global goal is to enter the "top ten companies in the world." Presumably, achieving this should be helped by existing series that have sold millions of copies. Some information, such as the number of Nioh copies sold, was already known.
- Dynasty Warriors — 24 million copies;
- Nobunaga’s Ambition — 11 million copies;
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms — 9.5 million copies;
- Samurai Warriors — 8.5 million copies;
- Nioh — 8 million copies;
- Atelier — 8 million copies;
- Ninja Gaiden — 7.5 million copies;
- Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty — 5 million players (including PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions).
It also became known that sales of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment exceeded one million copies since its release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in November 2025.
Additionally, the release of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered has been postponed from March 19 to a later date. The new release date for the action game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch will be announced later. The decision to delay the game was made to improve the quality of the remaster and please the fans. The producer also does not want to let the players down, as Dynasty Warriors 3 will be the first title in the series to receive a remaster for modern platforms.
