PUBG: Battlegrounds Shares Details of Upcoming Update
The developers of PUBG: Battlegrounds have shared details about the upcoming update, which will be released on February 4th for PC and February 12th for consoles.
The key event will be the conclusion of the winter event: the era of cold on Erangel is coming to an end, although traces of the recent weather anomaly will still be visible on the map. Additionally, the landscape of Erangel will be enriched with new interactive objects—explosive fuel tanks. The developers have also focused on improving the lighting system, making it more realistic and detailed, which should enhance the visual perception of the map.
Significant changes have also been made to weapon balance. The Mk12 rifle has been adjusted: its damage has been slightly reduced, and its recoil has been increased, raising the skill requirements for players in combat. At the same time, the SLR has received the opposite adjustment—its recoil has been reduced, making firing this weapon more comfortable and accurate.
A significant portion of the update is dedicated to overhauling the user interface. The developers have aimed to make it more convenient and informative. Players will now be able to see throwable weapons displayed, and the squad status screen has become much more detailed. Tracking the blue zone has been simplified so players can react more quickly to its movement. Another useful addition: when using an item, its icon will appear in the center of the timer, allowing for better control of available resources. Furthermore, some visual effects on the large map have been changed to improve clarity.
Console owners will receive a special feature—a virtual cursor that mimics mouse operation on PC. This option will be available in all game menus, including the lobby, store, appearance settings, and career mode. The developers hope that such a tool will make navigating the interface more intuitive and comfortable for console players.
Thus, the upcoming update not only concludes the winter chapter on Erangel but also introduces significant improvements to gameplay—from weapon balance to interface convenience. Players can expect a more thoughtful and comfortable experience starting in early February.
