"Please Don't Release THIS!": Players Slam New Marathon Gameplay

And the release is just around the corner

It seems that Bungie is moving further and further away from its audience. The developers showed a new gameplay fragment from the extraction shooter Marathon, recorded during closed testing in December 2025. The video captured the tense finale of a match: after a brief firefight, wounded players manage to evacuate at the very last moment.

The community's reaction was unequivocally negative. Players called the gameplay "boring" and predicted the game would share the fate of the failed Concord. Previously, the studio had already published a comparison of the alpha version with the current one, which also sparked a wave of criticism.

It seems that those who are still left working at Bungie simply don't understand gamers' preferences. They are making something so personal that it won't appeal to the mass player.

Marathon's release is scheduled for March 2026.
