Played out con artist tokyogurl and her accomplice are sent to prison

An esports scandal in Thailand ended with a real prison sentence for 29-year-old Nafath "Tokyogurl" Warasin and her partner Chayo "Cheerio." The pair were convicted of fraud after a women's Arena of Valor tournament in which the woman was listed as a member of the national team.

Judges grew suspicious in January 2026 when Tokyogurl’s hand movements didn’t line up with the action on screen — e.g., she appeared to be playing while inputs came from elsewhere. Investigators later concluded she was posing for the camera while her boyfriend operated the character remotely, a kind of on-stream deception that looked convincing until video and timing were checked.

Originally handed six months, the sentence was cut to three months after a guilty plea. Cases like this are uncommon; criminal penalties for manipulated gameplay remain rare, so the ruling drew attention precisely because jail time followed an esports fraud finding.
