Pearl Abyss is not yet ready to confirm mod support in Crimson Desert
The long-awaited open-world action game Crimson Desert is getting closer to release, and the developers at Pearl Abyss continue to reveal details about how the game will work on personal computers. One of the key questions for the PC community traditionally remains the support for user modifications.
However, in a recent interview, the studio’s marketing director Will Powers stated that there will be no official modding tools at the game’s launch. According to him, the team is still discussing this possibility internally, and a final decision has not yet been made.
This caution from the developers is likely tied to the use of their proprietary BlackSpace Engine. Creating a convenient interface for modders within proprietary technologies is a labor-intensive process, and currently the studio’s efforts are focused on polishing the core content and optimization.
Nevertheless, Powers did not give a categorical refusal, noting that Pearl Abyss understands the importance of the creative community for the game’s longevity on PC, so the door remains open for future updates.
