Path of Exile Developers Analyzed the "Mirage" League and Revealed Player Preferences
The devs of Path of Exile released first-week figures from the "Mirage" league, and the numbers tell a story that’s less about lore and more about choice patterns among players.
Practicality won out in the wishes department. "Wish for Rust" grabbed the top spot with a share north of 61%, while "Wish for Fish" and "Wish for Horror" trailed behind. Players appear to favor extra content and tangible returns, even when some options carry extra risk — can't say I blame them.
Mirages themselves crop up most often on certain maps, e.g., "Dune" and "Town Square." Those two outpace others by a comfortable margin, hinting at an early farming meta forming within week one (i.e., people found spots that just felt worth repeating).
When it comes to memory vaults, the "Scientist's Vault" dominated — >40% of openings. Region-to-region you can already spot preferred maps where players linger longer; these local habits shape how the league plays out in practice.
Maraket coin use was telling: Strength coins are the most common pick, with Knowledge and Skill coins used less often. In plain terms, folks are tuning characters for bite (vs. theorycraft neatness), esp. where value is obvious.
Boss stats look impressive on paper: wins over Saresh, the Burning Exarch, and the World Eater top ~97%. That figure, however, is skewed by veterans who farm bosses dozens or even hundreds of times. For the average player — especially those with only a few tries — success rates are noticeably lower.
