Patch 1.2.2 for 007 First Light improves visuals and performance when using ray tracing
IO Interactive has released update 1.2.2 for 007 First Light; the studio’s patch notes are available here: patch notes.
The 1.2.2 update focuses on ray tracing: it introduces an option to enable recommended default settings intended to smooth gameplay. With those settings enabled, IO Interactive reports players can expect roughly 60 FPS on an RTX 5070 at 1080p and roughly 60 FPS on an RTX 5080 at 1440p, though results may vary by mission and checkpoint.
Several specific ray tracing performance improvements are included. The patch optimizes scenes such as the introductory episode’s car ride, the hotel location, and the chase scene on high-end graphics cards. It also addresses abrupt frame rate drops experienced on the RTX 5070.
Two notable fixes target previously reported severe slowdowns: in the “Gala Evening” location FPS could fall to 5–10 frames per second when looking at a crowd, and a similar drop occurred when the camera zoomed in during the “Smoking Gun” cutscene. Both issues have been resolved in 1.2.2.
The update additionally removes pronounced stuttering that happened when launching online “Escalations” missions with ray tracing enabled. Patch 1.2.2 also fixes a number of visual defects related to ray tracing that some players may have encountered earlier.
