Did you order a new phobia? Burning 16-pin power connectors can "run away" from their sockets
Remember how MSI introduced an innovative solution to combat burning 12VHPWR connectors on RTX 40-series graphics cards? They painted the tip of the plug bright yellow: if you see a yellow stripe, the cable isn't fully inserted. The idea seemed brilliant in its simplicity, but new reports show that even it doesn't guarantee 100% safety. Reports have emerged that these cables can slowly "crawl" out of the socket on their own during operation due to thermal expansion of the plastic and vibrations from the fans. And yes, this isn't an exclusive problem of connectors with a yellow tip—it's a problem with all 16-pin connectors in general.
Now, owners of graphics cards with this connector are advised not to relax, even if they have a "safe" yellow cable. It is recommended to periodically, for example, every couple of months, look inside the case and check if that treacherous yellow stripe has appeared on the side of the graphics card or the power supply.
