Operator Solid Snake and the new hub — about Rainbow Six Siege support for the year
Operator Solid Snake and a New Hub — About Rainbow Six Siege Support for the Year
During the Six Invitational championship, the Ubisoft team revealed plans for supporting Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege in the coming year. Players can expect an updated ranked mode, anti-cheat improvements, and a heap of fresh content. For example, Solid Snake will be added as an operator.
About the First Season
The first season of Year 11, titled Operation Silent Hunt, launches in Siege on March 3rd. Below are the most interesting details from the developers.
The new permanent operator in the game will be Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series. He is an attacker with a three-speed rating and one health point. Snake represents the perfect balance of stealth, speed, and tactical sense. His abilities will provide attackers with invaluable informational advantages on the battlefield. The character's voice acting once again features David Hayter.
The operator's arsenal includes a radar that shows enemy locations (even revealing the direction the opponent is facing). However, visibility is limited to the floor where Snake himself is standing, and the number of uses per round is also limited. Furthermore, the radar only displays standard surveillance cameras, so gadgets from Valkyrie, Maestro, or Skopós will remain undetected.
The character is armed with the semi-automatic Tacit .45 pistol with a suppressor, the F2 assault rifle, and the PMR90A2 "sniper rifle."
Thanks to special training, Snake can handle a larger number of secondary gadgets than other operators. He can carry up to five types of such equipment, but only one unit of each type—one smoke grenade, one breach charge, and so on. Considering this, Snake is allowed to resupply from the corpses of defeated enemies and allies. However, Snake won't get anything for friendly fire—only kills by opponents count.
Access to Solid Snake will be available to Battle Pass owners at the start of the season, while everyone else can purchase the operator two weeks later. The Battle Pass will also include other goodies from the Metal Gear Solid series.
What else awaits in the first season:
- A limited-time in-game event with "4v4" battles where Snake and Sam Fisher lead groups of operators to retrieve stolen data.
- Updated maps ("Oregon," "Coastline," and "Villa").
- A new arcade mode in a "1v1" format.
- Reworked replay camera controls and free cam optimization.
- The Dual Front mode with "6v6" battles will be removed from R6S after the upcoming season.
- Improvements to combat toxic behavior. For example, the system for recognizing such behavior in text chat has become more advanced.
- Balance changes. For instance, Skopós gained a speed point (from two to three) but had their health rating reduced to one point.
About Upcoming Seasons
In the three upcoming seasons, developers will implement many new features, continue improving gameplay, and more.
In the second season, the ranked mode will be updated, a new map "Calypso Casino" and additional weapons will be added. Furthermore, mouse and keyboard support will arrive on consoles. The esports tab will be refreshed, and existing maps will continue to be updated. Operator Dokkaebi will receive a rework.
The third season promises a new defender (who will make shield-wielding opponents dance) and the implementation of Secure Boot, named R6 ShieldGuard Secure Platform—this step will provide a deeper level of protection against cheats on PC. A drone racing event will be held, a new long-term progression system will be integrated, a "3v3" arcade mode will be added, and map updates will continue.
In the fourth season, another operator will be reworked for the last time, a new gun will be added, the hostage mode will be reworked, a secondary gadget for attackers will be added, three more maps will be updated, and a new "social hub" will be introduced—an in-game space for chatting with friends, sending invites, and managing your squad.
