OpenAI has distanced itself from the political donations of its leadership
OpenAI published a public response after attention grew around sizable political donations tied to some of its executives. The gist: the org says employee donations are personal choices and shouldn’t be read as OpenAI’s official position.
According to U.S. FEC filings, Greg Brockman (company president and co‑founder) and his wife Anna each gave $12.5M to Leading the Future in 2025, and later steered roughly the same amounts to the pro‑Trump super PAC MAGA Inc. In other words (i.e., to be blunt), the paperwork shows about $50M moving through those channels.
OpenAI made a point of denying corporate involvement: FYI, it says it doesn’t fund Leading the Future and isn’t managing that group. The company also stressed the Brockmans acted as private individuals, not on behalf of OpenAI.
