"Nuclear Escalation": New Event with B-52 and Tu-95 in War Thunder

The online action game War Thunder kicked off a new event named "Nuclear Escalation" that spotlights strategic bombers able to carry both conventional and nuclear loads. The trial runs until April 13.

This mode drops players into a Central America map where the USA vs. USSR conflict escalates as you score points. Unlocks grow in punch — e.g., tactical nukes rated at 5 kt and 30 kt, and strategic deliveries from B-52H and Tu-95M fitted with warheads up to 1.6 Mt. Want bigger ordnance? Play for the points.

Players can add these aircraft to their research trees permanently (perm.). Another important change: anti-radiation/anti-radar missiles — AGM-88A HARM, Kh-58U, Kh-25MPU — appear as tools for punching through air defenses.

Developers say heavily protected ground vehicles may survive tactical nuclear blasts, while tightly coordinated air defense can still blunt strategic strikes. Take that on faith or test it in-game — either way, matches are bound to feel different.
