Fans of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm can forget about a new installment — at least for the next ten years. CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama stated that the studio is changing course and intends to focus on its own original projects rather than licensed games.

In an interview with Famitsu, Matsuyama explained that the team has been creating games based on iconic universes like Naruto and Dragon Ball for decades, and it was the "greatest dream." But now the goal is more ambitious — "world domination through content," meaning creating characters and worlds from scratch that could become as recognizable as Goku. A new game in the .hack universe will be the first step in this direction.

Matsuyama did not specify how strict the rejection of licenses will be, but the direction is clearly set: the studio will dedicate the next ten years to itself.
