Nintendo will bring back the Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World, but now for $550 instead of the previous $500
Nintendo has announced the return of the Switch 2 bundle that includes the Mario Kart World. The refreshed package lands in September 2026 and will be priced at $550 — $50 higher than the original version. Purchasers will also get 90 days of access to Nintendo Switch Online.
That Mario Kart World bundle was made available from the console’s launch in June 2025 until December 2025. At the time, the set went for $500 while the plain Switch 2 retailed at $450. From September 1, prices for Switch 2 will rise — the bundle is coming back at the higher tag. If you purchase the game and console separately, the set will cost $580, so bundle buyers will save $30.
By June 30, 2026, Mario Kart World had shifted 15.39 million units worldwide — roughly 80% of those sales were tied to console bundles (i.e., about 12.3M copies). In October 2026 Nintendo plans another Switch 2 bundle, this time with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, priced at $530; the solo digital game lists for $50, so the bundle nets a $20 saving. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a sequel to Nintendo Switch Sports, which was released in 2022 and sold 19 million copies.
In June, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company is watching the uptick in RAM costs and will adapt as market conditions change. Around the same time, other platform holders raised console prices — see moves from Sony, Microsoft, and Valve.
Earlier, Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad urged everyone interested to purchase the hybrid Nintendo Switch 2 console as soon as possible. From September 1 the platform will cost more in most major markets; Ahmad suggested this first round of hikes might be only the start.
"I just bought a Nintendo Switch 2 for $450 for this very reason [due to the memory market crisis]. I advise you to also buy the console while it still costs $450. At $600, it will still be a great deal. But if you keep waiting, you’ll miss the $680 price — then you'll have to pay more than $800."
