Counter-Strike 2 Analyst Predicts Wave of Hate Towards s1mple After Loss to FaZe
Renowned Counter-Strike 2 esports analyst Duncan "Thorin" Shields commented on the performance of BC.Game at the IEM Krakow 2026 tournament. On his social media, the Brit harshly criticized the detractors of Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and skeptically assessed the form of the match winners — FaZe Clan.
s1mple vs broky
The discussion was sparked by the fact that BC.Game lost specifically to FaZe Clan — the team where s1mple had previously stood in for Helvijs "broky" Saukants. Thorin is confident that the community will draw the wrong conclusions from this result.
"Now all the idiots are going to say broky is better than s1mple. And they will genuinely think that."
Criticism of FaZe Clan
Despite FaZe's victory, the analyst does not consider their performance convincing. In his opinion, if a truly strong tier-1 team had faced BC.Game, the match would have ended in a rout, not a close fight.
Praise for Coach TaZ
Shields separately noted the work of BC.Game's coach, Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas. The analyst emphasized that the Polish veteran achieved impressive results with a roster that no one believed in.
Thorin's Arguments
The team defeated top-25 opponents (Legacy and NiP) and put up a serious fight against two Major finalists (Team Vitality and FaZe) on three out of five maps played.
"Any other coach, and everyone else would be thrilled."
The Essence of the Confrontations
- History In the spring and summer of 2025, s1mple played for FaZe Clan on loan while broky was on the bench. With the Ukrainian, the team placed 5th-8th at the Austin Major 2025, but later the club decided to reinstate the Latvian AWPer.
- Krakow Results For Oleksandr Kostyliev, this was his first tier-1 tournament as part of BC.Game. The team passed the Play-in stage but lost two matches in a row in the main group.
- Result 13th-16th place and $10k in prize money. Currently, the team has no scheduled tournaments on their calendar.
Previously, Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, without excessive modesty, called himself the strongest sniper in Counter-Strike 2. The legendary esports athlete noted that the only player worthy of mention alongside him is Frenchman Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.
