New survival video about medieval zombies God Save Birmingham: overview of updates before beta testing
Ocean Drive Studio devs have spilled new details about the update for God Save Birmingham ahead of the closed beta, running June 22–29.
Combat feels quicker now — the team sped up animations so fights are snappier (i.e., less floaty, more immediate). Melee has been expanded with new weapon types, and there’s a neat twist: you can draw zombie attention with your voice. Encounters are more dynamic; enemies act tougher and less predictable.
The survival side has been reworked, too. Expect systems for raising chickens, harvesting crops and filtering water — basic subsistence, but with finer mechanics (e.g., resource upkeep matters). Weather behaves more realistically and temperature is tracked, so environmental exposure actually affects you. Fire is no longer just ambiance: campfires warm a character yet can easily ignite indoor areas if you’re careless.
If you want in, registration for the test is on the game’s Steam page.
