In 30 years of Diablo's existence, only five games have been released, but the pace may accelerate in the future. The executive producer of Diablo 4, Gavin Wyshow, hinted that there will be more releases in the next 30 years. He did not confirm the announcement of a new installment at BlizzCon but made it clear that Blizzard plans to release games more frequently.

Blizzard President Joanna Faries stated that the studio is in talks to expand franchises beyond video games and is preparing surprises for BlizzCon.

The second expansion for Diablo 4 — Lord of Hatred — will be released on April 28. It will overhaul the skill system, replacing passive abilities with new progression branches.
