Grand Theft Auto 6 to Feature Over 170 Wildlife Species in Leonida's Diverse Ecosystem

According to a report from Game Informer, Grand Theft Auto 6 will include more than 170 biological species within its open world of Leonida. Among the creatures players will encounter are animals that have been rare or absent in the series until now, such as manatees, pelicans, and flamingos.

Michael Kane, vice president of dynamic art at the studio, explained that the team went to great lengths to recreate Florida's ecosystem with accuracy. The game will feature over 60 bird species and more than 30 types of land mammals.

The developers focused heavily on making creature movements, animations, and biome-dependent behavior feel authentic, covering environments that range from swamps and farms to ocean coastlines. This wildlife system is intended to serve as a key part of the game's immersion, working alongside dynamic weather events like hurricanes.

Alongside the fauna and the largest map in the series to date, Leonida will offer a mix of familiar activities and unusual experiences. Players can expect classic pastimes such as billiards, mini-golf, and street racing. Newer options include kayaking, diving, airboat rides, jet skiing, gym visits, and even trips to zoos.

One of the more distinctive activities highlighted is backyard wrestling, where the protagonist can perform in front of a small crowd.

A fresh set of exclusive screenshots was also released, showing off the game's virtual landscapes.
