More than 18 minutes of gameplay of Silent Hill: Townfall
The Screen Burn team — backed by Konami and Annapurna Interactive — put out an 18-minute gameplay reel for Silent Hill: Townfall. In it, protagonist Simon Ordell picks his way through abandoned rooms and runs into grotesque creatures; sometimes you get a sprint away, sometimes not.
The story is set in 1996. Simon sails to the Scottish isle of Saint Amelia to, as the game puts it, "fix everything" and instead finds a fog-choked ghost town. Piece by piece he unearths personal fragments and slowly learns how he’s tangled up with the place and the people who were there — or what used to be them.
The team says this is the franchise’s first truly full-length title presented completely from a first-person view. Still, the familiar series feel is present: slow room-to-room probing, puzzle beats that interrupt exploration, and tense monster encounters that force you to pick an approach (melee, guns, or retreat — e.g., stealth and misdirection are viable). Stealth gets a slightly bigger role here; you can lure or distract foes instead of head-on fights.
In lieu of the classic Silent Hill radio, Simon carries a portable TV. It flashes unstable signals that warn of threats, hint at puzzle solutions, and drip out fragments of the town’s history — a nice twist that feels like tuning a haunted channel.
The score was composed by Anthony Scott Burns (aka Pilotpriest). He’s created a dynamic soundtrack that responds to both player moves and enemy behavior, shifting the mood as situations evolve.
Silent Hill: Townfall arrives September 24 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5. Russian text localization is confirmed.
