Instead of Merging — Server Shutdowns: Dune: Awakening Players Predict the Beginning of the End

Funcom will begin shutting down low-activity servers in Dune: Awakening to consolidate players onto the most populated worlds. The studio explained: the world of Arrakis is good when the desert is alive and cities are bustling — this was confirmed by online analysis. The list of servers to be closed will be announced in early March.

Players will be able to keep their character, loot, and vehicles, and can remain until the very end. Accounts will be preserved for moving to new worlds at a convenient time.

Some gamers are alarmed: many prefer low-population servers where they don't have to fight for resources and land for building. On densely populated worlds, free space might already be taken.
