Mod Fixes 15-Year-Old Door Animation "Bug" in TES V: Skyrim

Over the 15 years of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's existence, players have grown accustomed to many of the Bethesda engine's quirks, but one of them remained largely unnoticed for a long time, even though it was literally "in your face." This issue concerns the moment when NPCs open doors to transition to another location. A modder under the nickname wSkeever has released a fix.

The problem lay in how the game handles a character's disappearance before the loading screen. To prevent the NPC from simply vanishing into thin air, the engine initiates a smooth fade-out transparency effect. However, during this brief moment, all shadows on the character would break, hair would start to look unnatural, and the model itself would begin to glow brightly, as if plugged into an electrical outlet. This was especially noticeable in dark interiors or at night, completely ruining the immersion.
