Miyazaki denied the connection between The Duskbloods and Bloodborne despite the similarity in terms
FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki — who led Bloodborne and is now overseeing The Duskbloods — told Inven Global there’s no direct connection between the two projects.
“I figured this question would come up, but no: The Duskbloods isn’t tied to Bloodborne. Honestly, we get asked so much that I almost regret using the word "Blood" in the title (laughs). You’ll find some shared terms and ideas, but the themes head in different places.”
In a separate talk with IGN, Miyazaki said the concept for The Duskbloods acted as a kind of catch-all for MP ideas that never fit into Demon's Souls (2009) or the Dark Souls era (2011–2016).
“We tried a lot of things that looked promising, yet they didn’t sit well in single-player setups or the contexts of those games. I’ve been wanting to give those concepts a proper home.”
The Duskbloods is due out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 by the end of 2026.
