MacBook Neo Tests Show Performance on Par with iPhone 16 Pro

Geekbench entries have surfaced for the MacBook Neo — reportedly a budget Apple laptop — and the numbers are close to those of the iPhone 16 Pro. The unit in the database has 8 GB RAM and runs on the A18 Pro chip, i.e., the same processor family as the 16 Pro (FYI, shared architecture matters).

Results in the benchmark put the laptop near the iPhone’s scores; not shocking given the shared silicon, though it still feels odd to see a notebook and a phone report such similar figures. Against Apple’s existing lineup, the Neo lines up roughly vs. the MacBook Air (M1), suggesting it could be one of the cheapest ways to get early Apple Silicon–class speed on a clamshell device.

A small gap in the scores likely comes down to GPU config: the Neo’s A18 Pro appears to have one fewer graphics core than the phone’s chip, which would explain the delta.
