Lionhearts Developers Share Development Progress

The team behind the Lionhearts project, which is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and listed on Steam, has published another weekly progress report. The authors apologized for the break in updates, explaining it was due to intensive work on the combat demo, Lionhearts: Mêlée, which is being prepared for the community.

Over the past three weeks, the team has made significant progress in both the technical aspects and the artistic development of the game.

Programmers focused on improving the clarity and usability of the user interface (UI) and HUD elements. Notable refinements were made to:

  • System notifications;
  • Damage indicators;
  • The Favor Tree;
  • Main menu navigation.

These changes make the interface more readable and provide faster, clearer feedback during gameplay.

The developers fixed a critical bug that caused combat to synchronize incorrectly between clients. This issue was the primary reason for delays in releasing the demo version for the project's supporters. Its resolution is a crucial step toward a stable multiplayer mode.

The 3D animation team continued refining the movements for one-handed swords. Several animations were revised to add clear visual cues about the direction of attacks. Although historically accurate movements were temporarily removed for the sake of better gameplay readability, the developers plan to find a more subtle balance between realism and control convenience in the future.

During the reporting period, new specialists joined the project. Their integration into the workflow is expected to significantly accelerate the development pace in the coming months.
