Larian Studios Integrates Baldur's Gate 3 Fan Ideas into the New Divinity
Larian Studios, which achieved monumental success with Baldur's Gate 3, has announced a systematic approach to interacting with its fan community. The developers are not limiting themselves to formal support for user modifications—they are purposefully analyzing fan creations to incorporate them into the development of their next major RPG, a new installment in the Divinity series.
During a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session about the upcoming project, Lead Designer Nick Pechenin revealed details of this process. According to him, the team is actively studying user modifications, particularly those focused on improving the user interface (UI).
We are definitely taking notes on all UI mods

The developer explained that, despite the team's extensive work on adapting the complex D&D mechanics for a video game, a number of ideas could not be implemented in the final version of Baldur's Gate 3 due to time constraints. This is precisely why the studio deliberately made the interface open for modding: it allowed enthusiasts to implement solutions that were left out of the release.
Now, Larian Studios plans to integrate the most successful fan creations into the official functionality of the new Divinity. The example of the most popular modification for Baldur's Gate 3—a UI improvement mod—is particularly telling. It has been downloaded nearly 8 million times, serving as a clear indicator of player expectations for controls in modern RPGs.
This approach demonstrates Larian Studios' strategy: not just to support the community, but to utilize its creative potential to improve their own projects. This allows the studio to maintain a balance between innovation and respect for the audience's demands.
