Keanu Reeves will play a CIA agent in a revenge thriller based on an as-yet-unreleased book

Keanu Reeves has been cast in the lead role of the thriller Kill Current. He will portray John Hendricks, a retired CIA operative who returns to fieldwork to avenge the death of his protégé.

The film is adapted from the yet-to-be-released novel Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller by Oliver Lowe — a pseudonym for screenwriter Casey Stegman. The book, which is scheduled for publication in May, is the first of an intended series the author has planned.

The story delves into semiconductor manufacturing and global supply chains, along with themes of technological and information warfare.

No release date has been announced for the film adaptation.
