Jeff Kaplan Invites to The Legend of California Public Alpha Test

The new team of Jeff Kaplan at Kintsugiyama is getting ready to run the first public alpha for The Legend of California. The designer himself made the call in a short announcement: the test window is next week, March 26–30.

Signing up is straightforward — request access on the game's Steam page. You can play solo or in squads up to four players; invites are limited and will be distributed at random (i.e., a lottery). The team says a larger beta is expected in summer, so more people should get a chance then.

A quick refresher on what the game actually is: an FPS with survival elements set in Gold Rush California (CA). The idea: carve out a foothold, scrounge and build a fortune amid that era's chaos. It’s not a history lecture — more a frontier sandbox with teeth.
