It Looks Like the Next Gran Turismo Is Already in Development

The studio Polyphony Digital has started hiring for roles tied to a new Gran Turismo project. There’s no press release yet, but the job board is a loud hint that work has begun — take it with a grain of salt, though.

At the moment there are 18 openings listed on the site. These include testers and CG artists, plus other roles across art and engineering (e.g., QA, tools, etc.), so the team appears to be staffing up rather broadly.

Historically, big entries in this series take years to finish; so a release tomorrow is extremely unlikely. Realistically, this could be groundwork for a title aimed at the next PlayStation hardware cycle rather than the current gen — again, that’s conjecture based on typical timelines and the size of the hiring push.

Remember: only Gran Turismo 7 has seen a PS5 release so far. The PS4 didn’t get a full-numbered follow-up during its lifecycle; instead it received a pared-down Gran Turismo Sport. GT7 arrived on the newer hardware after active PS4 support had waned and the 9th gen consoles were already out.
