It seems that in Divinity, the heroes will finally learn to swim — for the first time in Larian games Larian Studios designer Nick Pechenin has hinted at the appearance of new mechanics in the new Divinity that were not even present in Baldur's Gate 3.
During an AMA session on Reddit, he stated that he had always been bothered by the same omission when exploring the starting locations of DOS, DOS2, and BG3. The community instantly deciphered the hint: all three games start near water — on the coast or by a large river — but the characters cannot swim.
The most popular comment under the post reads: "Swimming confirmed." Fans noted that they always found this strange: the game literally drops you on the beach, but makes the water a purely decorative barrier. There is no official confirmation from Larian yet, but the hint is considered so obvious that there is almost no doubt left.
