Netflix broken? Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Fred from the "Scooby-Doo" series are together, with no agenda!
Netflix just rolled out the cast for a live-action prequel to "Scooby-Doo." Predictable internet fuss will follow; some will mock, others will praise, and a few will just watch to see if it actually surprises.
So, the future Mystery Inc. team is assembled:
- Daphne Blake — McKenna Grace ("Ghostbusters," "Young Sheldon"),
- Shaggy Rogers — Tanner Hagen ("Pitt Hospital"),
- Velma Dinkley — Abby Ryder Fortson ("Ant-Man," "Pitt Hospital"),
- Fred Jones — Maxwell Jenkins ("Lost in Space," "Jack Reacher").
The setup: Shaggy and Daphne’s last summer at camp mutates into a probe of a possibly supernatural murder; a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy might know more than anyone expects (e.g., it shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time). Velma — the one who trusts lab notes over ghost stories — and Freddy, an oddball newcomer with a knack for unsettling charm, get pulled into the mess. And yes, the blurb promises this mystery "draws each of them into a terrifying nightmare threatening to reveal all their secrets."
