Insider and a Major Data Leak: The Next Part of the Metro Series Will Be Subtitled "2039"

According to insider Jez Corden, the next entry from 4A Games will carry the name "Metro 2039." The story is said to pick up several years after Metro Exodus, and an official announcement might be imminent — if the tip is accurate, anyway.

A leaked archive (around 130 GB) appears to back up the chatter; screenshots from a 2022 build have been shared online. The images lean toward a return to the franchise's earlier mood: cramped, shadowed tunnels and that suffocating, underground tension many fans remember.

The leak also points to Hunter as the playable lead, while the updated 4A Engine shows off photorealistic lighting and a more developed weapon customization system.

Take all of this with some caution until we get confirmation.
