Inde Navarrette will star in the sci-fi thriller "Waffle House Index"
Inde Navarrette, who drew attention for her frightening turn as Nikki in the horror film "Obsession," has been tapped to star in and serve as an executive producer on a new Apple Original Films project, "The Waffle House Index," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Plan B Entertainment will produce the picture; the company is known for its work on the drama "Ford v Ferrari," which starred Brad Pitt.
The movie borrows its title from a real, unofficial gauge used to assess hurricane damage by monitoring whether Waffle House locations remain open, but the screenplay takes that concept in an increasingly bizarre and violent direction. Navarrette is set to play a Waffle House waitress whose difficult shift is abruptly interrupted when an armed stranger crashes the scene. What follows escalates rapidly, according to the report, encompassing a massive flood, giant killer crocodiles, a nuclear explosion, a mysterious bunker beneath the restaurant, and extraterrestrial involvement.
The assignment continues a run of unconventional genre projects for Navarrette following "Obsession." She previously appeared in the thriller "Deadly Rips," which centered on teens trapped on a roller coaster.
