Major Weapon System Changes Coming to the MMO Once Human
The developers of the MMO Once Human have announced a major overhaul of the weapon mechanics. The key changes will take effect on January 21st. Their goal is to make gameplay simpler and the game's systems more transparent.
The most noticeable change is the complete removal of the calibration function. While weapons calibrated previously will retain all their stats, the mechanic itself will cease to exist. Workbenches will no longer support calibration or blueprint replacement. However, when crafting weapons, calibration blueprints will continue to work—they will immediately activate their effects.
Calibration blueprints will also undergo significant changes. Now, each new blueprint will be guaranteed to provide an attack bonus, the value of which can reach up to 50% depending on rarity. Furthermore, the developers have merged two random stats—such as critical hit chance, critical damage, elemental damage, and weak point damage—into one. The maximum value of the new stat will be equal to the sum of the maximum values of the previous parameters.
For example, for legendary rarity blueprints, instead of two elemental damage stats (6%–8% and 9%–12%), there will be a single elemental damage stat of 15%–20%, as well as an attack bonus in the range of 33%–50%.
The changes will also affect the armor system. Now, when crafting it, adding a mech will provide bonuses to HP and Psi Intensity. The size of the bonuses depends on the mech's rarity: for instance, a legendary mech will increase the armor's base stats by 40%.
The weapon accessory system has also been optimized. The developers introduced a unified "Reload Efficiency" stat, merging several previous reload-related characteristics into it. The bonus effects of accessories are now standardized based on their type and rarity. For example, rare quality 2× scopes will consistently provide a 2.0× magnification multiplier and +4% accuracy.
The conversion coefficients for old stats into the new "Reload Efficiency" differ: a reload speed of +10 now corresponds to a reload efficiency of +8%, while a reload speed of +10% corresponds to a reload efficiency of +3%.
To ease the transition to the new mechanics, the studio has prepared compensation measures. Players will be able to dismantle their old blueprints at a workbench and receive new ones with the same name in return. After the update's release, players level 40 and above (excluding participants in the RaidZone and Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve scenarios) will receive a compensation package via mail. It will include self-selectable enhanced legendary rarity blueprints and a weapon rename card.
However, it's important to remember: at the workbench in Eternaland, dismantling items yields Astral Sands instead of new blueprints. Players should carefully choose the location for this operation.
