Meta-horror "Faces of Death" based on the scandalous 1978 film

A reinterpretation of the scandalous 1978 pseudo-documentary horror film, "Faces of Death," is being released. This is not just a remake, but a deep reworking of the original in the meta-horror genre. The creators transpose the key question of the source material — reality or staging? — into a modern digital context, where the line between truth and fiction becomes even more blurred.

At the center of the plot is a girl working as a content moderator for a major video platform. Her daily task is to filter out violent and prohibited videos. But one day, the heroine stumbles upon a series of disturbing video recordings: they reconstruct the infamous murders from the original film with frightening accuracy.

Plunging into a virtual world oversaturated with disinformation, the heroine desperately tries to understand what she is facing: an elaborately staged horror or a series of real crimes unfolding in real-time. The tension escalates with each new fragment, as the answer to this question determines not only her professional assessment of the content but also her personal safety.

The cast includes Barbie Ferreira ("Euphoria"), Dacre Montgomery ("Stranger Things"), and pop icon Charli XCX. The film is directed by Daniel Goldhaber. It is produced by Legendary Entertainment, as well as Independent Film Company and Shudder.

The film premieres in theaters on April 10th.
