In The Blood of Dawnwalker, time can be bought with... human teeth
The team behind The Blood of Dawnwalker keeps peeling back odd bits of their dark RPG, and this one actually made me pause: you can trade human teeth to buy extra time. Creepy? Yes. Weirdly intriguing? Also yes.
The deals are struck with creatures called Sanjana — moth-like, fairy-ish beings that pick teeth from corpses and tinker with the flow of time. Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz says these beings are the key to altering the game's main countdown: 30 days (≈720 hrs) to save the protagonist’s family.
Time doesn't tick constantly in Dawnwalker; it advances after particular actions, and teeth function as a kind of currency to nudge that limit. The devs haven't said how much extra time a given trophy will add, or whether rarer chompers will buy more minutes than common ones — so speculation is allowed, and probably gross.
According to the creators, the mechanic is meant to inject unpredictability and push players to poke around the world more. Details of this so-called "tooth economy" remain under wraps for now, though curious players will see how far the idea goes when The Blood of Dawnwalker launches in September (Sep.).
