Hit Game Dispatch Released on Nintendo Switch with Mandatory Censorship, But Developers Assure Content Remain Intact

The game Dispatch has been released on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 with mandatory visual censorship not present on the PC and PlayStation 5 versions. This is not the first time Nintendo has taken such action with multiplatform releases, having previously forced, for example, Idea Factory to cancel Western ports of their games.

As confirmed at launch, the Nintendo versions lack the ability to toggle visual censorship on or off. On PC and PS5, players can choose settings for visual censorship, language censorship, and licensed music replacement. On Switch and Switch 2, the visual censorship option is completely absent and is permanently active. This results in some scenes being obscured and some explicit sounds being altered.

"Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated on an individual basis," the studio explained. According to the developers, these changes were necessary to adapt Dispatch for the Nintendo platform. AdHoc also emphasized that these changes do not affect gameplay or story progression. "We worked with Nintendo to ensure the game's content met the criteria for release on their platforms, but the core story and gameplay remain identical to the original version."
