"I, *****, hate generative AI" — the head of Hooded Horse banned the use of neural networks in the games of their publishing house.
Tim Bender, CEO of the publishing house Hooded Horse (known for hits like Manor Lords and Against the Storm), has sharply criticized the use of AI in the gaming industry. His position was expressed as straightforwardly and uncensored as possible.
Bender stated that if Hooded Horse undertakes the publication of a game, it should have no AI assets. This applies not only to final graphics but also to concept art, texts, or voiceovers.
In an interview, he didn't hold back, bluntly stating: "I f—king hate gen AI art". In his opinion, the use of neural networks devalues the work of artists and deprives games of "soul" and human vision.
Bender is convinced that players sense the falsehood. The use of generative content can cause irreparable harm to a game's image and community trust, which is a key factor for success in the indie sector.
