New Gameplay Trailer for Frostrail by Barotrauma Creators Shows Crafting and Monster Battles

The shooter Frostrail by the creators of Barotrauma, about survival on a train amid eternal winter, received a fresh trailer. In it, one of the characters talks about their mission against the backdrop of fights with mutants, crafting, and train setup.

The story unfolds in a once mighty empire. One day, the emperor made a pact with the Void, plunging the world into icy chaos. Temperatures dropped, the land was covered with snow, and where people used to live, terrifying monsters began to appear.

The creatures resemble corpses entwined with plants. Some tower over travelers like huge trees, others huddle close to the ground, and all of them pose a deadly threat. Unfortunately, the protagonists — repentant gardeners — have to face monsters during their excursions. The remnants of settlements hold priceless supplies and resources.

To survive, the heroes must constantly upgrade their steam locomotive. It serves as both transport and home. Inside, everything necessary is located: a stove, boxes, and workbenches. One can rest there, assemble, craft weapons, and most importantly — warm up. It is important to reinforce the cars and improve the engine because the further into the cold wasteland, the harder life becomes for the squad.

Recall that Frostrail is being developed for PC. Early access is expected in 2026, though the exact date is still unknown.
