Chrono Odyssey Developers Showcase Changes to the Game's Combat System
The developers have announced significant changes to the combat system of the MMORPG Chrono Odyssey, based on player feedback from the first closed beta test. The key adjustments are aimed at improving the responsiveness and tactical depth of battles.
Character control has been completely overhauled. Movement is now independent of the camera direction, allowing for freer dodging and positioning. Attacks land where the character is facing, not where the camera is pointed. Sprinting is now instant, and the automatic roll after a jump has been removed to provide greater control.
To make combat more intense and "tangible," the visual and mechanical feedback from hits has been enhanced. A Guard Crush system has been introduced: blocking consumes stamina, and attacks from the flank or rear instantly break it. Powerful enemy attacks now knock the character back varying distances, creating different "vulnerability windows."
The consumable system has also been changed. Healing potions are now a permanent, rechargeable resource with a dedicated button, automatically replenished in dungeons. Food now provides long-term buffs instead of healing, while special potions offer powerful but short-term effects for critical moments.
Among other improvements are visual boundaries for duel arenas, trajectory displays for thrown items, and more noticeable weapon-switching effects.
