The Elder Scrolls 6 is being built on the good old Creation Engine

But it's been updated to version three

Todd Howard has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is being developed on the Creation Engine 3.0. Despite the recent Oblivion remaster being developed on Unreal Engine, the studio has decided to remain loyal to its own tool.

Bethesda has been using the Creation Engine for 24 years, and it traces its lineage back to Gamebryo, which was used for Morrowind and Fallout 3. The engine's main advantage is its extensive modding support; however, its architecture still implies an abundance of loading screens when entering buildings and transitioning between locations. It seems we shouldn't expect a completely seamless world in The Elder Scrolls 6.

The studio's previous game, Starfield, ran on version 2.0.
