Great plan, Sony: due to price increases, PS5 sales have fallen to Xbox levels

Great plan sony due to price increases ps5 sales have fallen to xbox levels

According to Famitsu, PS5 sales in Japan crashed after the April 2 price hike. The Pro and disc SKUs slid to roughly Xbox-level volumes — about 800 units/week — while the only model still moving in any numbers was the localized digital edition. That version is about 1.5x cheaper than the global SKU ($344 vs $562) and made up roughly 90% of the brand’s sales in the region.

Analysts point out that the Switch 2’s strong run (5 million units sold) has put Sony on the back foot at home. Not exactly surprising, maybe, but still striking to see a market flip so fast.
