Google uses AI to create news summaries in the Discover feed. The company claims the system helps users explore topics from various sources and works well. However, in practice, the automatically generated headlines often contain errors. For example, the AI claimed that the ban on drone imports in the USA had been lifted, which was not true, and also confused device release dates and details of promotions. Despite some improvements, the system still lacks the ability to critically evaluate information, leading to regular factual distortions.
