According to Variety, Borderlands 4 for Switch 2 has been removed from Take-Two's upcoming release schedule in their Q3 report for the current fiscal year. The company later confirmed to the publication that they "made the difficult decision to suspend work on this version." The reason cited is a desire to focus on releasing updates and post-launch content. After all, as is known, the situation with mediocre optimization remains unresolved to this day. The fate of the hybrid console version is left to speculation. We should note that it has already been indefinitely delayed.
Nevertheless, in the foreseeable future, at least two of the publisher's games will be released on Switch 2 — PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K26.
As for Borderlands 4, the game recently received its long-promised photo mode, and Gearbox published a roadmap for 2026. The shooter launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on September 12, 2025.
